Gary E. Heiland II, MAI, AI-GRS founded Mid-Atlantic Appraisals in 1999 and was the company President until 2006 when Mid-Atlantic Appraisals merged with Sockler Mignogna DiLello Realty Group Pennsylvania, Inc. to form Mid-Atlantic Valuation Group, Inc. Mr. Heiland is now co-owner of Mid-Atlantic Valuation Group along with Michael J. Acquaro-Mignogna, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS.

Mr. Heiland graduated from Shippensburg University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a major in real estate. After graduating, Mr. Heiland began his appraisal career working for a commercial appraisal firm in Philadelphia. In May 1996, Mr. Heiland moved back to his home town of York, Pennsylvania and took a position with a local firm until starting Mid-Atlantic Appraisals in 1999.

Mid-Atlantic Valuation Group, Inc. specializes in complex commercial appraisal and consulting assignments. Litigation support is also a focus. Mr. Heiland is licensed in multiple states. He has provided expert witness testimony at tax assessment appeal hearings in many Pennsylvania counties including Adams, Allegheny, Beaver, Bedford, Berks, Bradford, Bucks, Butler, Cambria, Carbon, Centre, Chester, Clearfield, Clinton, Columbia, Crawford, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Elk, Erie, Huntingdon, Fayette, Franklin, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lawrence, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, McKean, Mercer, Monroe, Montgomery, Northumberland, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, Snyder, Tioga, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Westmoreland, Wyoming and York. He has given testimony in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas in Allegheny, Berks, Clearfield, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Schuylkill, Snyder, Wyoming and York Counties, in the United States District Court (Western District of Pennsylvania) and in the United States Bankruptcy Court (Middle District of Pennsylvania). He has also testified at Board of View hearings in Lancaster and York Counties.

Mr. Heiland was awarded the MAI designation in January 2004 and the AI-GRS designation in April 2015. In addition to serving as President of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 2009, he has also served the Appraisal Institute in the following capacities: Member of the Board of Directors of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter in 2002, 2003, 2007, 2012 and 2013; Second VP of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter in 2008, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter in 2004; Associate Guidance Chair – General of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter from 2004 through 2008; Education Committee member of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter in 2004; and as a National Screener and Experience Review Panel Member for the Appraisal Institute from 2006 through 2009. In addition, Mr. Heiland was the chairman of the Stewardship Committee of St. Paul’s Chapel United Method Church in Red Lion, Pennsylvania and prior member of said committee for several years. More recently, Mr. Heiland was a small group facilitator for Men’s Fraternity at Living Word Community Church in York, Pennsylvania. He has also served as a committee member of the Monarch Ridge Architectural Review Committee in 2009 and 2010.
